How can you set one on one approval workflow in Business Central?

Introduction: One of the scenarios where you want the Person A approval request should be approved by Person B and Person B approval request should be approved by Person A. How to achieve this goal: Go to Workflows page I want to create a Purchase Order Approval Workflow from Templates. Go to New-> New Workflow from Template Then select the Purchase Order Approval Workflow from Workflow Templates Click on Add record restriction in the Response field Select the Create approval request option from the Response tab and then set the values Approve Type to be Approver and Approver Limit Type Direct Approver which means whoever is approver the request will go that user only. And then enable the workflow. Then now go to Approval User Setup where we are going to assign which user’s approval request will be sent to which user. Now I will assign my approval request should be sent to the manager and the manager approval request should be sent to me. Now let’s test it  go to Purchase order I am currently in my account and send the approval request from Purchase Order Now my manager will get the request which I have sent. The manager will sign in on his account and then go to the Request to Approve page and approve the request which I have sent. And then once the request is approved by my Manager I will get the status as approved in Purchase order-> Orders-> Approval Let’s try vice versa as well repeat the same steps for the manager as well Now I will be able to see the request from the Manager in the Request to Approve Page Conclusion: Thus we saw how we can set the request approval to be send one on one in Business central Thank you very much for reading my work. Factbox of workflow history on purchase order in D365FO

Introduction: In this blog, we will see how to create factbox of workflow history of purchase order in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Details:  Well, Factbox is a very pretty cool feature available from the earlier version AX 2012. It is very easy to achieve in Dynamics 365 as well.  Here we will see how easy it is and steps for that.    As shown in the above image, we will be going to create factbox for the “Tracking details list” Steps:  Create the solution in Visual Studio and project for that. We’ll be required four objects mainly that is one display MenuItem, Table, Form (on which to display factbox), another Form (factbox). Reference attached below: 1. Table For displaying workflow history, we need to create the extension of table WorkflowTrackingStatusTable and create the normal relation and its relevant properties as 2. Factbox Now we are required to create the factbox of workflow history. For that we will use the effortless technique, where we will duplicate the standard form “WorkflowStatus” and will name as CFSPurchTableWorkflowHistoryFactBox (give name as per your naming convention standards) After duplicating and renaming the form, we need to change the pattern as “custom” After applying the custom pattern, delete the NavigationList which is not required in factbox, and do visible false ActionPane and PanelTab After that create the new Grid and assign the data source to it in the property and put all the required fields to show in factbox 3. Display MenuItem We will attach the created factbox form to the display menu item and relevant label “Workflow history” 4. Base form Base form we call it as where we will attach the factbox. Here it is purchase form. Go to Parm section and create a new part and give it a relevant name and its properties Properties:  Data source: Attached data source with which workflow history is connected Data Source Relation: WorkflowTable.RelationName Name: Part name That’s it. Build the project and go the frontend and check the output how it looks like. Conclusion: It results as (we can scroll left and right to see all the tracking details list) Hurray, How pretty it looks like! How to Add Workflow form for D365 finance and Operation modules

In D365 Finance and Operation for some modules, there is no Workflow setup. eg:- Inventory management module. In such a case, we need to perform the following steps after which you can see the workflow setup form which will include all the workflows for that specific module. First, we need to add the Display menu item and set properties as: Enum Type parameter to ModuleAxapta and Enum Parameter to the module ( in our case Inventory ) Object Type to form. Object to WorkflowtableListPageRnr   After this create a menu extension of the module where we need to place the form. Drag the display menu item to the menu extension.   After a successful build,  we are set to enlist new workflows for an inventory module using workflow forms. The same way you can attach workflow form to the new module as follows:- Create an extension of ModuleAxapta Base Enum Add a new element to base enum and name it your custom module name and label it Create a new Display Menu Item and set its properties as follows Create a new menu and set its label and name as per your requirement And insert your display menu item to your custom menu/module Create an extension of “MainMenu” Menu and add new menu item reference and set its properties as follows Build the solution your Workflow setup form will be visible for that module

How to resolve workflow editor error “Application cannot be started.Contact the application vendor”

Sometimes when you try to open workflow editor you receive error  as “Application cannot be started.Contact the application vendor” as shown in screenshot. this problem can be caused due to various versions of application are there on your system. Let see how to solve this problem :- First thing first make sure you are using internet explorer browser for the workflow. If you are using internet explorer the go to settings and go to internet options. Now try to connect the application. If above step is also not working for you then there must be multiple versions of applications are on your system. To resolve this you visit C:\Users\*YourUserFolder*\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0 and search as workfow and select second application file and open file location of it.(AppData may be hidden in some cases) Now in the opened location delete all the files other than folder in that location. after this try to download the latest workflow editor and it should work now.

How to create and apply workflow for purchase order in D365 finance and operations

In this blog we will learn how to create workflows in D365 finance and operation. For this blog we are taking example of Purchase order workflow. Which will allow us to create purchase order which is allocated to different persons for approval and review process. Navigate to Procurement and Sourcing >>Setup>>Procurement and Sourcing workflows, and click on new and select purchase order workflow as follows:- This will open workflow editor in you first need to provide log in details same as that of environment. Here we need to arrange various components and need to set their properties to resolve those following errors. Components for this of workflow: – Start: – To indicate start of workflow design. End:- To indicate end of workflow design. Review Purchase order:-This assign review(Complete/Return PO). Approve Purchase order:- This assign users who needs to approve purchase order.   To design workflow follow the steps :- Now In designer create design as shown in screenshot Set the Review element and right click and open properties and set as basic settings as follows:- In assignment make sure you have assigned type(in our case user) and user name You can also escalate roles after certain time as follows(we are not considering this setup for this blog) Now get back to approve purchase order and open its properties for and set automatic action as follows which will approve Purchase order below 10000 USD. Set the notification for person who will receive notification when particular operation is performed(for eg :- Approved/rejected etc) Now click on step 1 to enter in step 1 section and open its properties. First we are assigning user who will approve the purchase order as screenshot suggest as well as you can set time limit for approval and completion policy as well. You can also add the condition to step 1 which will decide whether to run this step or notNow close step and get back to main design of designer Now click on save and close and mention version notes and activate this workflow Now you can see new workflow in procurement and sourcing workflows Now create new purchase order and after that click on workflow button and click on submit you can also check history of it Now another user will complete the purchase order approval and mention comment. Now user with authority of approval will approve  from common>>Work Items assigned to me  

Bulk Clear field values in D365

Introduction: A very handy approach for admins and users of Dynamics 365 who want to bulk clean up field values – And just selecting them in Bulk Editing them as shown below doesn’t help!! So here’s the scenario – You want to clear the selected records for their Credit Score field. Because primarily, you can commonly put a value in a field using Bulk Edit, but not clear the value. Workaround: What you can do instead, create a quick and simple workflow to clear the field. 1. Create an On-Demand workflow on Contact entity with an Update step for Contact 2. In the Update step, point to the field and then select the Operator on the right hand side to select Clear. 3. Make sure the Clear appears on the field you want to Bulk Update. 4. Once done, save and Activate the workflow. Run on the selected records you want to clear at once. 5. The values will not be cleared for these records. Hope this helps!

Purchase Order Workflow formatter error in D365 Finance and Operations

Introduction: In D365 Operations, when we create a workflow for Purchase Order we face a formatter error related to Time zone. This error is caused due to conflict as same time zone specified twice for a legal entity. First for the legal entity and second time for the address. In this blog, I will tell you how to resolve it. Solution: Go to Organization Administration -> Legal Entities In Address Tab, select More options -> Advanced In General Tab, Edit the Time zone to a different time zone.
